      • MISSING Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs

I already posted a full review of NYM Deja Vu ‘Do, because it was the only product I didn’t have a great time using.  My box was also missing the Sally Hansen product, but Influenster support informed me that while they would not be able to replace the item, they would not penalize me for failing to review the product (how nice).  The rest of the box is pretty great.

First, Dove dark chocolate is delicious and the fruit makes it even more so.  I had such a problem with self-control around this that I’ve now purchased two more bags to fulfill all my campaign tasks.  Oops, I ate all those too!  I haven’t gotten a picture of the candies straight out of the package, but I did snap a shot of my special blend.  I call it Go-Go Bites.  I ground up coffee beans as fine as I could, laid down a layer of coffee, a layer of candy, and another layer of coffee in a small dish, then I popped the dish in the microwave to soften the candy.  It only takes about 20 second for the outside to get soft, then you can shake it up to fully coat the candy.  I put my dish in the freezer to firm the chocolate up faster.

These are really tasty with the blueberry candy, and Dove has cranberry and cherry candies also.  I haven’t tried the cherry, but the cranberry is my favorite so far.  The blueberries are a little too small to identify inside the thick layer of chocolate.  I shared my sample with my boyfriend and we agree that unless you know it’s blueberry, you couldn’t tell.  It’s definitely a dried fruit, and definitely a yummy snack, but the fruit is understated.  5 out of 5 for being too delicious to resist.

I’ll repost my picture from the NYM review, because I was using all my remaining VoxBox products here.  The mascara, Rimmel by Kate, features the trending broken-heart brush, which I found to be incredibly useful.  It reminded me of a cat’s tail, but I suppose that would be confusing since a cattail is a straight, poofy plant.  The little curve at the tip of the brush is excellent for getting the corners of your eyes.  The mascara formula thickens lashes without being clumpy or crumbly.  It’s not waterproof, but it stays in place for many hours.  I fell asleep with it on one evening and only then did it move, but only slightly. 5 out of 5 for being a really great mascara that’s affordable on any budget.

Rimmel by Kate Lipstick triggered some memories.  It’s unusual for lipstick to have such a strong scent, and I knew I recognized it from somewhere.  Aha! It smells just like the Rimmel London Cool perfume.  I guess they don’t make that anymore, so early ’00s girls, take a memory trip with me.  The color they sent was just labelled #17.  None of these colors have names, just numbers.  I like how close #17 is to my natural lip color.  It balances out the tone and softens my lips without looking flashy and artificial.  It’s not the most secure lipstick product I’ve tried, but it lasts a few hours.  Just keep it in your purse when you go out and you’ll be fine. 4 out of 5; it doesn’t last as long as I would like, but it’s still a nice product.

I credit EcoTools Mattifying Finish brush with a great complexion in that picture.  I feel like my skin has never looked good with foundation.  At least none of the foundations that I’ve tried so far.  I’d love to go to the city and get my Pantone number so I can order foundations I know will be a perfect match.  My skin isn’t terrible, though, so I can actually get away with a little concealer and a light dusting of powder.  This is the first brush I’ve had with the perfect texture for pressed powder application.  The tips are soft and varied in length enough for delicate coverage, but the body of the bristles are firm enough to collect the right amount from the pan without rubbing too hard.  Bonus, it’s a gorgeous brush and EcoTools is a brand I already own and love.  5 out of 5 and I’m definitely interested in the rest of the Complexion Collection.

I also got a reminder about the eBay Guides campaign available to me from my Influenster dashboard.  I’ve completed 3 campaigns and I’m just waiting on the final $25 gift code.  I’ve already used my first $50 on cosmetics and pet supplies.  The campaigns are closed now, but Influenster offers this sort of activity fairly regularly from what I’ve seen.  There is always something to do.  4 out of 5, because everyone spammed their links at the last minute, so it’s taking a long time to approve and send the codes.

The last thing in my box is the Club W invitation.  I’m not sure if you realize this, but Texas is one of those states that doesn’t allow the manufacturer to ship alcohol directly to the consumer.  Texas requires that alcohol be shipped by a third party, but that the third party has a special license with the state.  There are a handful of states with this requirement and the third party must have a license with each state separately.  It’s a real pain in the butt for independent wineries and craft breweries.  Luckily, Club W is a third party shipper.  You go to the website and answer questions about your food and drink preferences and the database offers you a number of selections.  It’s a monthly membership sending you two wines of your choice each month, but the VoxBox offer throws in a third bottle for free.  The best part, in my opinion, is that each wine has a page of info including descriptions, pairings, and a video review from the Club W staff.  That’s really helpful for someone like myself who just hasn’t found the right wine yet.  I don’t consider myself a wine drinker, so the obligation to purchase two at once isn’t a great value to me.  I could use the suggestions offered by the database to make my own selections the next time I’m at the store.  3 out of 5, this isn’t for everyone, but still a decent offer.

This was a really fun box to review.  I wish I’d gotten the Sally Hansen sample, but I’m so pale I’d probably have looked like I bathed in turmeric using the self-tanner.  Just a reminder, I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.  If you’d like to test products and earn rewards too, I recommend signing up.
